Fractions In Conversation

 

In daily conversation, people use fractions.   People talking about "3 quarters of a pizza", "painting half the room," "a quarter of the room complete."   The following problems ask you to look at some pictures and identify some fractions that you could use in a conversation.  Look at the first few pictures and answers and see if you can figure out a way to come up with the answers.

Jimmy's Mom made him a pizza.    The pizza was cut into 8 pieces. Jimmy ate as much of the pizza as we wanted, then stopped.    If the picture below shows what remains of the pizza:

Teresa is painting her room.    She plans on painting the four walls yellow.   She as painted part of the room.    If the picture below shows what has been painted:
