Set

A collection of items. In math, the items are numbers and they are surrounded by curly brackets ({}).

{1,2,3,4,5}
{2,4,6,8,10 ... }
{ ..., -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, ... }
Square

Value obtained by multiplying a number by itself.

the square of 2 is (2 x 2) = 4
the square of 7 is (7 x 7) = 49
the square of -11 is (-11 x (-11)) = 121
the square of a is (a x a) = a2
Square Root

The number that, when squared, produces the given number.

Given 49, 7 is the square root,
  because 7 x 7 = 49

Given 25, 5 is the square root,
  because 5 x 5 = 25

Subset

A set that is set made with elements found in another set.

Given { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5},
  {2, 3, 4} is a subset.

Given { 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 },
  {2, 4, 6} is a subset.
